Time: Cookie Lyon is most influential fictional character

From the moment Empire's no nonsense matriarch sashayed out of prison and into our lives, we were smitten with Cookie Lyon.

The Internet acts as Cookie's interactive shrine... Endless memes, tweets and costumes pay homage the leading lady of primetime. It's no wonder Time magazine named Cookie Lyon the most influential fictional character of 2015.

It's a historic honor for the Oscar-nominated actress behind the cultural icon -- Taraji P. Henson. Cookie would be nothing without her and the confidence, courage, and candor Henson exudes.

That Henson/cookie combo continues to inspire a generation. She is the only African-American character on time magazine's list and was one of two African-American actresses nominated for an Emmy this year.
