(FOX 5 NEWS) - Cuba has influenced politics, but it's also influenced fashion! Starting in this country, there are a host of Cuban-American designers, including Narciso Rodriguez whose parents immigrated from Cuba. Rodriguez credits his Cuban heritage with inspiring some of the cuts and colors in his acclaimed collections.
The Cuban influence extends to European designers too. One example is Versace where pieces in one of Donatella Versace's recent men's collections were inspired by Cuban architecture. The biggest fashion statement came just a few days ago when Chanel staged its Cuba-inspired fashion show right in the heart of Havana!
As more designers follow Chanel's lead, it will be interesting to see whether Cuba experiences a luxury boom just like China has experienced over the past decade.
